In September 2013, the Shanxi Cultural Heritage Protection and Restoration Cooperative Innovation Center of the College of Art in Taiyuan University of Technology was approved as the construction and cultivation project of Shanxi Department of Education Innovation Base. It is a scientific research and teaching entity that directly subordinates to Taiyuan University of Technology, which integrates politics, industry, learning and research, and is guided by the actual needs of the government and society.
"Shanxi Cultural Heritage Protection and Restoration Collaborative Innovation Center" takes the College of Art in Taiyuan University of Technology as the lead unit, and cooperates with scientific research and teaching units such as Shanxi Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage, Shanxi Institute of Archaeology, Shanxi Institute of Ancient Architecture Protection, Shanxi Museum, Northwest University, etc., bringing together many high-level research talents with rich theoretical and practical experience in the field of cultural heritage restoration and protection. Among them, there are 15 professors, 5 associate professors, 10 lecturers, 9 researchers, 8 doctoral tutors and 16 master tutors.
The overall development idea of Collaborative Innovation Center is based on the great needs of transformation and the cultural inheritance in Shanxi Province, aiming at the present situation that Shanxi's national cultural heritage is rich, but the problems of protection and restoration are increasingly prominent. Relying on the civil engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology, a key discipline in Shanxi Province, and the Art Heritage Research Center of Taiyuan University of Technology, a key research base of humanities and social sciences in Shanxi Province, and cooperating with Shanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau and other relevant units, we will build a scientific and effective research, teaching and practice system for the protection and restoration of cultural heritage in terms of immovable cultural relics such as colored sculptures and murals and movable cultural relics such as paper, wood, metal and ceramics. We will strive to achieve comprehensive protection and effective inheritance, improve the level of protection and restoration of cultural heritage in our province, and explore the potential of cultural heritage in inheriting culture, improving people's ideological and moral quality and scientific and cultural level.
